ABOUT

“Describe your passion within your profession in three brief characteristics.” Design, storytelling, and user experience. Hi there, my name is Matthew Kisseberth, and I am a licensed architect. What makes a space deliver a compelling future and enhance the individuals’ experience in which it serves? The intersection of the former, where the narrative and design influence each other to deliver the project vision. This symbiotic relationship is where my interest lies and my work thrives.

My formative years at The Ohio State University provided me with a robust framework in architectural theory and practice at the undergraduate level. However, it was during my pursuit of a master's degree at the University of Oregon that I embarked on the exploration of the symbiotic relationship between storytelling and design methodology. I recognize that transformative design emerges not in isolation, but through collaborative endeavors marked by strategic dialogue and comprehensive analysis.

With an eclectic collection of experiences accrued over the years, I am able to provide a unique perspective tailored to the project at hand.  My working style is collaborative, as I believe success is best found through a dynamic and diverse team.  Ensuring everyone has a voice on that team is where my leadership excels.  Being able to facilitate the conversations, ask the right questions, and interpret the data at hand, has been the foundation in my work, and as such has seen numerous projects grow from an idea to a built space.

Design to me is a process, one that if done correctly can shape better experiences.  The places we design for have a story, as do the people who will interact with them, shouldn’t our designs have a story too?
